Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Summary of accomplishments for 2008.

Dear Friends,

I would like to sincerely thank you for your past contributions to the Brain Injury Association of America and ask, once again, for your generous financial support of the oldest, largest and only nationwide brain injury advocacy organization.

It wasn’t that long ago that many of us who believe deeply in BIAA’s mission wondered what would become of our organization. The tragedy of 9/11, a sharp downturn in the economy and internal missteps seriously threatened the Association’s future. But just like the people we work for, BIAA pulled itself up by its bootstraps and left those dark days behind us.

Every year for the last three, BIAA has grown stronger. 2008 is no exception! This year’s accomplishments include numerous legislative victories, new and expanded programs and services for our constituents, and infrastructure building to sustain and grow the organization for many years to come.

Please take a minute to celebrate your role in BIAA’s success as you review the enclosed report of accomplishments. And be sure to look at our goals for 2009-2013. They were developed with input from the people we serve. There’s no doubt that the goals are ambitious, but I’m sure you would agree that individuals with brain injury, family caregivers, clinicians, researchers and other professionals deserve the very best BIAA can deliver.

Please give as generously as you can to BIAA knowing that we rely on your tax-deductible contribution to make ends meet throughout the year. It is easier than ever to make a donation right on our web site using one of the links at the top of this page. Remember, too, that your gift of $25 or more earns you a complimentary subscription to our quarterly newsletter, THE Challenge!

You have my best wishes for a great 2009..

Sincerely,

Susan H. Connors
President/CEO

Matching Gifts

Your donation can be doubled or even tripled through matching gift programs. Check with your employer to find out if your company will match your contribution to the Brain Injury Association of America. Should you have questions about your company’s matching gift program, please contact your human resources department.

If a matching program is in place, your company likely follows one of the two means of assuring that your gift is matched:

Most Frequently Used Method: Obtain your company’s matching gift form, complete the “Donor” section and mail it to the BIAA with your donation.

BIAA will complete the Charity section of the form and return it back to your company. This confirms that your donation was received and requests a matching gift.

Less Frequently Used Method: Make your personal donation to BIAA. After receiving your gift, BIAA will send you a letter acknowledging your donation. Take this letter of acknowledgement to your company’s matching gift administrator who will then distribute your company’s matching gift to BIAA.

Matching gifts allow you to designate your company’s charitable giving program to the charity dearest to you while increasing your donation’s value to BIAA.

Wills, Trusts, and Annuities

As a valued supporter and friend to BIAA, you may elect to bequest in your will, trust or through an annuity gift to help continue the programs and services you supported over your lifetime. Your will or trust is a critical part of your overall estate planning. It provides a concise statement of how you want your assets transferred to those you love and those charitable organizations you have been committed to during your life.

For your convenience we can supply you with sample language that you can give to your attorney to include BIAA in your will, trust or on an annuity.

To get this information, please contact: BIAA President/CEO.
