Hidden TBI Affects More Than 30 million Americans

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 3.17 million people ( over 1% of the U.S. population) live with a life-long disability as a result of TBI. Research suggests that for every person hospitalized with a brain injury, three to five others who are injured do not receive any care at all. This is the Hidden TBI population and includes children on the playground, young athletes, battered partners and children, and returning service members. The TBI Research Review has published a Policy and Procedure manual for diagnosing, treating and living with the life long effects of traumatic brain injuries. You can access this manual here. (pdf)
