MISSION
Create a better future for people with brain
injuries and their families, by reducing the incidence and effects
of brain injury through public and professional education, advocacy,
and support, and by facilitating interagency commitment and
collaboration.

PROGRAMS
Education: Hosts an annual educational conference
for brain-injury survivors, their families/care givers and
professionals in related fields. Also offers regional conferences
throughout the state, and a special brain injury certification
program.
Support: Provides a statewide network of 15
support groups open to members and the general public. Publishes a
free annual directory of resources including providers, supportive
services and general information about brain injury. Also,
distributes a semi annual newsletter, maintains a reference library,
hosts an updated Web site, and maintains the Indiana Brain Injury
Family Toll-Free Helpline.
Awareness/Prevention: Advocates for prevention
through Brain Injury Awareness Month activities, attends local
health fairs, and educates the public about proper seat belt and
helmet use. Also advocates for public policy on behalf of Hoosiers
with brain injury, their families and the professionals who treat
them.
FUND-RAISERS
Annual Educational Conference raised $36,953 in
2005; this year's event is scheduled for Sept. 21-22 and will
feature a keynote address from Trisha Meili, also known as "The
Central Park Jogger."
