IMPORTANT REQUEST:
Below you will find support groups for many Wyoming communities. The Brain
Injury Association of Wyoming (BIAW) is seeking to expand support groups to
other areas of the state. BIAW will provide training, a facilitator’s manual,
telephone support, post card reminders, public service announcements, research
materials, and lists of successful topics guest speakers. If you or someone you
know would be willing to facilitate a group in your area, please contact the
Brain Injury Association of Wyoming at 1-800-643-6457.

Spiritual Recovery:
A Special Interest Support Group – ONLINE
Patrick Jones spoke at the Brain Injury Conference about
the role of spirituality in recovery from brain injury. Patrick leads an
internet support group for brain injury survivors. The group is hosted out of
Colorado, but is open to new members including people from Wyoming.

Why Attend a Support Group Meeting?
The purpose of a support group is sharing with and supporting one another,
for the mutual benefit of the total group. Some essential elements of a support
group are:
- Active, involved listening
- Feeling that others care and hear what you have to say
- Meeting and accepting others support needs
- Giving and Receiving an opportunity to be really understood
- An awareness of common needs and strengths
- A place to find courage and to take calculated risks
- An atmosphere which allows an opportunity to get in touch with oneself
