Help BIAA Celebrate Brain Injury Heroes on Giving Tuesday

18-Nov-2015 The Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) is inviting brain injury advocates across the country to join us in recognizing #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. The event takes place on Dec. 1, 2015.

More than 2.5 million people in the United States sustain traumatic brain injuries (TBI) each year, and 1 million more experience strokes and other acquired brain injuries. At least 5.3 million Americans live with TBI-related disabilities.

BIAA is asking people to help us raise awareness about brain injury on #GivingTuesday by taking photos of themselves with their brain injury heroes -- people who are living with the effects of brain injury, family caregivers, advocates, or medical professionals -- and posting those pictures on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram with the hashtag #BrainInjuryHero.

You can also help spread the word about the prevalence of brain injury by liking BIAA’s Facebook page and following us on Twitter and Instagram and sharing your stories of how brain injury has impacted you.

Participants can also help BIAA celebrate our 35th anniversary by visiting our website on Giving Tuesday, clicking the green “Donate” button, and making a donation. Please enter “Giving Tuesday” in the comment field. Brain Injury Awareness Pins are also available for purchase on our website ( at a reduced price of two for $15.
