New DVD Available on What You Should Know About Brain Injury and Recovery

April 14, 2011

A new DVD series, produced by Shepherd Center in collaboration with the Brain Injury Association of America, American Trauma Society and the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, is available to help educate patients and families about their new injury and options for post-trauma care.

This video uses simple language and images of real people who have sustained a brain injury, as well as medical experts and advocates. Judy Fortin, former CNN anchor and medical correspondent, guides you through important information to help maximize your loved one’s recovery.

Lee Woodruff adds practical advice – her husband, Bob Woodruff of ABC News, was injured in a bomb blast in Iraq. The video features some of the nation’s top neuroscientists, physicians, and brain injury experts to help people understand their new injury, the path to recovery and functional expectations.

 Chapters include:

1. Introduction and About This Video
2. Brain Injury Basics and Anatomy of the Brain
3. Understanding Traumatic Brain Injury, its Causes, Effects and Classifications
4. Understanding Non-Traumatic Brain Injury and Stroke, its Causes, Effects and Classifications
5. What Comes Next After the Trauma Care Center?
