Nominations for 2011 Board of Directors


The Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors is pleased to announce the slate of nominees for election to Board terms beginning January 1, 2011 as selected by the voting delegates of BIAA's chartered state affiliates during the State Affiliate Assembly meeting on December 3, 2010. The nominees are:

Daniel S. Chamberlain, Esq.
Mr. Chamberlain is a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate and partner in the Indianapolis-based law firm of Doeherman Chamberlain. The firm specializes in personal injury and wrongful death. He is the author of several professional articles and is a sought-after public speaker. Along with his professional experience as an attorney dealing with the aftermath of traumatic brain injury and the protection of the financial futures of those affected, Dan Chamberlain acted as a champion of brain injury and other patient protection issues by advocating tirelessly within the Indiana state legislature on behalf of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. He has also worked closely with the Brain Injury Association of Indiana to procure a HRSA state grant and to assist state agencies in developing the necessary resource facilitation and systems coordination to help fulfill funding goals. He was nominated for his first term of service by Dr. Lance Trexler, BIA of Indiana President.

James F. Humphreys, Esq.
Mr. Humphreys is a licensed attorney in West Virginia and Washington, D.C. His practice areas include personal injury; litigation and appeals; and Federal Employer’s Liability Act. He earned his JD from George Washington University. He also holds a MPA from Princeton, an MA from The Ohio State University, and an AB from West Virginia University. Jim Humphreys was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates in 1982 and previously served on the staff of Senators John Glenn and Don Reigle. Jim is a member of the Board of the George Washington University Law School and has served in advisory roles for the BIA of West Virginia. Jim Humphreys was nominated for BIAA Board service by Mike Davis, founder of the BIA-WV, and was previously elected to the Board. He is eligible for a second term.

James S. Misko, PsyD
Dr. Misko, co-owner and president of Core Health Care, has specialized in neuropsychology for the past 15 years. He received his doctorate from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1988 and is licensed as a Clinical Psychologist. Jim Misko has committed his time and energy to helping improve the quality of life for people who have survived traumatic brain injuries and other neurological disorders. Jim lectures nationally to raise awareness of brain injury. The Brain Injury Association of Texas awarded him the 2003 Professional Contribution of the Year. He was nominated by BIAA Board Chairman Joe Richert for his first term of office.

Christopher S. Slover
Mr. Slover is the chairman and chief executive officer of Lakeview Healthcare. He owns and manages insurance and real estate holding corporations in which he oversees the strategic planning, public relations, sales management and contracting functions. Chris Slover was previously employed as a financial planner and stock broker in the securities firm of Lincoln Financial and holds licenses in general securities, life/health insurance annuities, and general property and casualty. Chris earned a BA in Economics with a minor in Business from the University of Texas at Austin. He serves in volunteer leadership roles for Associated Tileworks, Austin Museum of Art, several neurological organizations and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization. Chris Slover was nominated for BIAA Board service by Mark Ashley, Past Chairman of the Board of Directors, and was previously elected to the Board. He is eligible for a second term.

Frank L. Toral, Esq.
Mr. Toral is a senior partner at the Florida-based law firm of Toral Garcia Batista, a statewide litigation law firm with experience handling serious personal injury cases in every major city in Florida. During his Presidency of the Brain Injury Association of Florida, he actively lobbied ranking members of the legislature in Florida’s state capitol on behalf of brain injury survivors and their families. He also established the Toral Family Foundation, which grants funds to public charities and organizations providing support and services to survivors of brain injury and their families. Frank Toral is a graduate of the University of Florida and earned his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1992 from the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law School Center. Frank was nominated for his first full term of service by Valerie Breen, BIAF Executive Director.

Martin Henry “Tony” Zink, MD, PhD
Dr. Zink is an esteemed cardiologist and also a brain injury survivor. He sustained a brain injury while completing his residency at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Tony Zink has served on the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of Kansas and Greater Kansas City and currently practices as part of Cardiovascular Consultants, P.A. He attended Texas Christian University, and holds an MD and PhD from the University of Kansas Medical Center. Tony has authored numerous professional publications and holds several certifications including those from the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Society of Echocardiography. He was nominated for his first term of service by Betsy Johnson, BIA of Kansas and Greater Kansas City Executive Director. 

If elected, these individuals will join BIAA's current Board of Directors for a 3-year term of service.
