Preventing Falls and TBI-Related Injuries Among Older Americans Congressional Briefing

15-Sep-2015 On Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, Dr. Wayne Gordon, Jack Nash Professor, Vice Chair of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, lcahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and Chairman of the Research Council of the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA), will moderate a congressional briefing on preventing falls and TBI-related injuries among older Americans. The briefing will be held at 122 Cannon House Office Building at 11:00 a.m.

Panel members for the briefing include:

  • Dr. Grant Baldwin, Director of the Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention at the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control Centers for Disease Control and Prevention;
  • Edwin Walker, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Aging, Administration for Community Living;
  • Howard Bedlin, Vice President, Public Policy and Advocacy,National Council on Aging;
  • William A. B. Ditto, Chair of Public Policy, National Association of State Head Injury Administrators; and
  • Martha A. Roherty, Executive Director, National Association of States United for Aging and Disabilities.

The briefing is hosted by Representatives Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-N.J.)  Thomas J. Rooney (R-Fla.), Co-Chairs of the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force, and Senators Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Special Committee on Aging, in association with BIAA, the National Council on Aging, and the National Association of State Head Injury Administrators.
