The Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists (ACBIS) offers a voluntary national certification program for both entry-level staff and experienced professionals working in brain injury services. ACBIS provides staff and professionals the opportunity to learn important information about brain injury, to demonstrate their learning in a written examination, and to earn a nationally recognized credential. ACBIS offers two certification options representing distinct levels of experience and supervisory skills: Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) and Certified Brain Injury Specialist Trainer (CBIST). Certification is based on experience and education in the following areas: Certification is not restricted to any one profession or discipline. Rather, it is intended for anyone who delivers services specific to brain injury. The Brain Injury Association of America regularly presents conferences and webinars on topics of interest to family members, caregivers, clinicians, researchers and other professionals. The Association is committed to advancing knowledge in every aspect of brain injury. If you have an idea for a conference presentation or webinar, please contact our professional services staff. The Brain Injury Association of America is home to the Brain Injury Business and Professional Council. The Council's primary goal is to increase access to care. Membership in the Council offers opportunities to stay up-to-date on health care policies, participate in coordinated legislative action, share in brain injury health outcomes and business intelligence, and communicate and network with colleagues.
