FIGHTING MEMORY
by: Chuck Ozug

"It's a poor sort of memory that only
works backwards."
              -Lewis Carroll

Carroll never said enough
to show how upsetting
working backwards is.

My memory is feeble as a flea,
tiny as a splintered twig
prickling random spots.

Incarnate:
my memory tries to function
but fails, deeply saddening me.

Working backwards
makes me grapple,
wrestling shaky feet.
