Cindy Barrus, PT, MM, CBIST, holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Western Michigan University, a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from Grand Valley State University, a master’s in management from Aquinas College, and has been working in with Spectrum Health in rehabilitation since 1990. She has a special interest in neuro rehabilitation, and is a Program Director for Spectrum Health’s inpatient subacute rehabilitation and neuro residential programs, both CARF accredited settings with brain injury specialty designation. As a CARF surveyor, Cindy has had the opportunity to survey rehabilitation programs internationally. Cindy is a board member with the Michigan Brain Injury Provider Council and is a committee member of the Western Michigan Brain Injury Network. She has been a Certified Brain Injury Specialist Trainer since 2004, and has been instrumental in providing training to professionals working across the healthcare continuum. In 2006 Cindy was the recipient of the Brain Injury Association of Michigan Education Award. She is a member of the American Congress if Rehabilitation Medicine’s Brain Injury Interdisciplinary Special Interest Group (ACRM/BI-ISIG), with a special interest in disorders of consciousness.
