CNS and BIAA Celebrate More Than 40 Years of Hope and Healing

January 14, 2021

Last year, the Centre for Neuro Skills (CNS) and the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) celebrated 40 years as leaders in the brain injury community.

Since 1980, CNS has been a premier provider of brain injury rehabilitation – offering goal-oriented therapies that focus on independence and rebuilding life skills. And BIAA has been a primary authority on brain injury and an innovative influencer of public awareness and public policy change.

From inception, the aligned organizations have partnered in a shared goal of improving the lives of people with brain injury. This involves supporting, pursuing, and delivering the highest quality treatment, disease management, education, and research by increasing awareness and understanding of brain injury, improving patient care, and advancing the resources necessary to provide programs, information, and services.

CNS and BIAA promote appropriate and holistic care for people with brain injuries and are focused on advocating for patients and developing public knowledge of brain injury.

Over the last four decades, CNS has supported BIAA with funding, sharing research, and offering professional expertise and executive guidance on rehabilitation.

Dr. Mark Ashley, CNS CEO and Founder, is a proud and dedicated supporter of BIAA. He has been part of many committees, conferences, and events over the years, including serving as BIAA chair and on the Board of Directors for 18 years.

“Forty years ago, the Centre for Neuro Skills had its beginning, and it was one month before the founding of the Brain Injury Association of America,” said Dr. Ashley. “We were proud to see what they were able to begin and proud to see what they’ve accomplished as they grew the Association as a grassroots organization into the organization it’s become today,” Dr. Ashley continued.

“For 40 years, the Brain Injury Association of America and its affiliates have reaped the benefits of a close partnership with the leaders and staff at the Centre for Neuro Skills,” said BIAA President/CEO Susan Connors. “I cannot imagine BIAA or the brain injury community without CNS!”

It was an honor to share our 40th anniversary milestone, and as we begin a new year, we look forward to continuing our efforts to enhance the quality of life for people affected by brain injury.

We thank the brain injury community for its ongoing commitment to support and prioritizing high-quality patient care. Your dedication during these challenging times has been an inspiration.
