2017 Brain Injury Awareness Day on Capitol Hill
March 23, 2017
Reps. Pascrell (D-N.J.) and Rooney (R-Fla.), Co-Chairs of the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force, hosted Brain Injury Awareness Day on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, March 22. It included a brain injury awareness fair featuring more than 50 exhibitors, a Congressional briefing, and a reception celebrating the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force and Brain Injury Awareness Month.
Although BIAA and brain injury advocates work with Congress though out the year, Brain Injury Awareness Day is important because it is the one day dedicated to educating elected officials about brain injury and the importance of federal funding to continue the Federal TBI State Grant Program, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention TBI Programs, and brain injury research conducted by the TBI Model Systems.
BIAA staff and volunteers were present throughout the day and captured a series of pictures and video clips featured in the video to the left. To read the highlights from the briefing, see the live tweets on BIAA's Twitter.
The White House delivered a letter of support to the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force applauding their efforts, and those of brain injury advocates like BIAA. Read it here.
