BIAA Announces Research Funding Opportunities for 2022 Awards

May 3, 2021

The Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) offers funding opportunities to support research toward finding cures for brain injury. Now in its third year, BIAA’s Brain Injury Research Fund provides support to studies that will contribute to our understanding of brain injury as a chronic disease

Through the Brain Injury Research Fund, BIAA offers two types of funding: Dissertation Grants, funded at $5,000, and Seed Grants, funded up to $25,000. Click here to view a list of funded projects. The Association’s Research Committee will begin accepting Letters of Interest (LOIs) for the 2022 awards May 17, 2021. Donations from the public supplement the fund and allow the research program to continue to grow.

BIAA is especially interested in finding novel approaches to understanding and ameliorating long-term effects of brain injury, such as the excess mortality associated with more severe injuries, neurodegenerative diseases that may be triggered by an injury earlier in life, consequences of childhood brain injury, and how social determinants of health affect outcomes.
