Thank Congressman Tom Rooney during Brain Injury Awareness Month

Congressman Thomas J. Rooney (R-Fla.), co-chair of the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force, has announced he will retire from Congress at the end of the year. This is a huge loss to the brain injury community and the task force.

Rep. Rooney has tirelessly advocated for individuals with brain injury and their families since first serving on the task force in January 2013. He has been serving Florida’s 17th district since November 4, 2008.

Rep. Rooney sits on the House Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee’s on Agriculture, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and State and Foreign Operations. He is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and serves as Chairman of the Intelligence Subcommittee on Emerging Threats. He also serves as a Deputy Whip for the Majority.

Improving health care services for individuals that have sustained a TBI, particularly in America’s military and veteran communities, has been a top priority for Rep. Rooney. He co-founded and previously co-chaired the Congressional Invisible Wounds Caucus, which was later renamed the Military Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Caucus. He has worked across the aisle to expand screenings, improve treatment and increase access to care for troops and veterans with invisible wounds like TBI.

Please take a moment to write a thank you letter to Rep. Rooney or post a thank you to his social media.
