#TeamMorgan
My daughter was involved in an ATV accident on 4/4/15. She was quickly flown to Johns Hopkins who quickly started care. I could write a novel explaining her experiences both there and at Kennedy Krieger ,we had some very scary moments and some amazing ones but I just want to say that from 4/4/15 – 5/19/15 she had the absolute best team of people taking care of her that I could ever imagine and still does now as an outpatient. My daughter shouldn’t even be here based on her injuries. She also shouldn’t be back in school and in a regular classroom setting based on what her MRI’s show now. Her doctors shake their heads every single time they see her. She is on multiple studies because of her recovery and I only hope them following her will help other families have the outcome that we have had. Her doctors don’t take credit for her progress. They can’t explain the level that she functions at based on her brain now and the word miracle gets used often. I tell her story often. She has been written about on KKI website and Johns Hopkins Children’s Center’s site as well. I want everyone to know that there are good outcomes from a tragic injury. Don’t get me wrong she works hard , still has struggles and will always have minor accommodations for school. But on the flip side she is back in school with her friends and while she is no longer allowed to play sports which she loves and was very active in before her accident, she does everything that her classmates do and actually has excelled in school. She is in her Junior year of high school now. Last year she maintained a spot on the honor roll all year. This year she decided to challenge herself and is taking AP US History and Honors Chemistry as part of her schedule. I thank God every single day that she’s here. She amazes me daily with her resolve and determination and fight. She is a miracle and I know she will do great things. Go #Team Morgan!
