Luminary of the Year is an exciting new fundraising campaign that supports the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) and our mission to improve the quality of life of people affected by brain injury. By participating in the Luminary of the Year campaign, you’ll be helping us work toward a world where everyone who sustains a brain injury is recognized, treated, and accepted.

How it Works

Prospective participants can nominate themselves or someone else in their community to become a Fundraising Champion. Once nominated, Champions will start fundraising with the support of their own fundraising page where they can share their personal brain injury story as well as process donations. Top fundraisers will be recognized at the Luminary of the Year event in THE Challenge! magazine, the Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation, and on BIAA’s website, social channels, and other industry events and publications.

Event Details

The Luminary of the Year event will take place on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. At the event, attendees and honorees alike will have the opportunity to hear stories of resolve, determination, and compassion from the brain injury community. This inspiring, mission-focused event includes a cocktail reception, dinner, auction, and a Fund the Mission Moment.

In addition to celebrating the dedicated fundraisers who help make BIAA’s work possible, our first-ever Luminary of the Year event will also honor BIAA co-founder Marilyn Price Spivack, for the incredible contributions she has made to the brain injury community.

How You Can Support the Luminary of the Year Campaign

There are several options for supporting or participating in BIAA’s Luminary of the Year campaign:

• Donate in honor of Brain Injury Association of America founder Marilyn Price Spivack
