Fundamentals Certificate

Information & Eligibility

A training and certificate program for non-licensed direct care staff and individual caregivers.

Developed by experienced clinicians and rehabilitation professionals, Brain Injury Fundamentals is a training and certificate program designed to address the unique needs and challenges of those who care for or encounter individuals with brain injury.

Who is it for?

Anyone who cares for or interacts with individuals with brain injuries, including:

  • Non-licensed direct care staff
  • Facility staff
  • Family members and friends
  • First responders
  • Community members

No prior experience or education required

What does it cover?

Essential topics on brain injury, including:

  • Cognition
  • Interaction and rapport building
  • Brain injury and behavior
  • Medical complications
  • Safe medication management
  • Families coping with brain injury

Interactive learning format with real-life scenarios.

Benefits:

  • Understand different types of behavior
  • Manage medication safely
  • Provide support to individuals and families
  • Receive a valid certificate for 3 years (with renewal option)

Brain Injury Fundamentals Training Delivery Options:

Participants can select from two training delivery platforms: a traditional in-person instructor-led venue or a virtual self-paced course with a mandatory two-hour instructor-led post-training webinar. Our goal is to offer flexible options to accommodate your preferences to have the flexibility to participate and receive the same high-quality instruction from our Brain Injury Fundamentals Instructors.

Choose from two formats:

  • In-person: Led by an instructor at conferences, events, or through service providers.
  • Virtual self-paced:
    • Watch 7 video modules online anytime 24/7
    • Attend a mandatory 2-hour live webinar with an instructor

Both options take 7-12 hours and require:

  • Registration and Payment
  • Course attendance and completion (in-person or virtual)
  • Pass the online quiz
  • Certificate of training request and issuance
